Being part of a winning team
Great to see Tony get a few goals last night at the legends game. The game was great fun and fantasy too with Sam Newman and Straughany being able to , angel like, get hold of the ball without a decent contest .
I'm sure we Modras all enjoyed the fact that our/his game was a real contest and that the shallow Sam game hero stuff was/ is a bit of a sad joke .
The symbolism of one of us being the person that actually gets the final boot is very powerful . After all, while we love to kick the ball through the posts, we don't often get that job . So many of the knocks/kicks we get in the real game/s we play lead to no obvious goals - so seeing that we really " finally got one" is really great . A reminder too that when you hand one to Gary Sweet , or fail to jump as you used to - you still did the job as best you could when you were called to do it .
No more so than when you just simply tap the ball to the right person at the very start . Well done Chris there hitting it out for the all Australian AFL crocs team in his fifties .
Can't help being reminded of all those who have gone before us who fought to win, ran the race and got the prize.Wonderful night of celebration ! And that was after our dedicated household members saw their beloved Richmond and Hawthorn teams snatch their wins from the jaws of lions last weekend .
